Chicago Illinois Treehouse
Treehouse #A1 - Chicago, Illinois
The girls went away for a couple weeks during the summer, so we had to start and finish the tree house before they returned. Boy were they ever surprised with their treehouse and rope swing that they had no idea was coming. When we arrived, the giant oak tree was generally in really good shape. We did, however, climb to remove several dead hazard branches so that they wouldn't fall on the tree house. We didn't cut any live branches because the ones that were inside the proposed tree house were very large and helpful for the tree's overall structure and vitality. Most of these materials were purchased locally, but they came from all over the country. Red Cedar siding and shake roof are usually sent from mills on the west coast, and the windows were locally purchased. We supply all of the tree attachment hardware.
The neighbors had been watching us build all along. After the neighbors kids tried out the giant rope swing that we installed, we ended up installing 3 more at different houses on that street! They're so much fun that we put them up almost everywhere we go.
