Rich Young – Treehouse Sales & Design Consultant

Rich Young was looking into designing and building a treehouse for his kids...

... when he discovered that we were also looking for a full time design & sales consultant. His wife actually told him that he just had to get this job. Aside from having a “kid at heart” personality and loving to build things on his “fixer upper” house, he also graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in design. After a career that included working for design firms and also running his own design firm, he has used his attention to detail and desire to help customers envision their projects for over 20 years. 

The absolute best part of working at Tree Top Builders is seeing kids get excited about a treehouse. He knows that he is helping people create memories, whether that is through a family backyard treehouse, a rental unit that people book on vacation, or a commercial treehouse for the public to enjoy. Sometimes on a site visit, a child will ask, “can you build my treehouse tomorrow?” Well, well, maybe not tomorrow, but soon! 

As a family man with kids in the 6-11 age range, Rich likes to take the kids fishing and hiking in the woods. Although it’s hard to find proof of it on social media, a long, long time ago, in a galaxy far away, he once toured with the USA Gymnastics team as a mascot doing funny routines in a kangaroo suit and his partner in crime wearing a monkey suit. 

Rich’s favorite treehouse that he has helped create so far is a large outdoor education platform for a private school in Virginia. He is proud of the design as it gives the school versatile space small classroom meetings and also adds a new dimension to their playground.
